The expedition of the Astronomical Institute of Slovak Academy of Sciences was sent to observe the total solar eclipse of February 16, 1980. The expedition consisted of seven members: V. Rušin (leader), Ľ. Hanigovský, Š. Knoška, M. Minarovjech, L. Scheirich, J. Sýkora, P. Zimmermann. The observing place was chosen near village Jawalgera in the Raichur District, Karnataka State, India and it was about 3.4 km far from the totality center line. Observing conditions were excellent.
After 27 years, I processed 18×24 cm large glass plates taken with 20/304 cm horizontal telescope and 30 cm coelostat. The result clearly illustrates the fact that it makes sense to process archival eclipse images by means of nowadays scanners and using the latest numerical methods of image processing. The resulting image is highly over my expectation.
