Coronal rays

This highly enhanced image of the solar corona shows polar rays up to 7 solar radii. The enhancement of extremely faint structures in the images was possible thanks to precise work of Constantinos Emmanouilidis who sent us excellent data without any defects. He cleaned the camera sensors by himself so perfectly that there was no single defect caused by dust particles on the chip! The used optics was without any detectable reflections.
