Total solar eclipse image and SOHO LASCO C2 composite
This composite image shows the solar corona during very high solar activity near to maximum of 11
year cycle. It illustrates the fact that the most interesting part of solar corona is observable in
visible part of the spectrum, even today, only during total solar eclipses. Diffraction on any
occulter which is near the telescope observing the Sun in visible light prevent us from
creating a good quality image of inner corona.

Processing | Composition of 22 eclipse images and SOHO LASCO C2 image. Eclipse images were calibrated by means of large number of dark frames and flat-fields, aligned by means of phase correlation, composed by means of LDIC 5.0 software, processed using Corona 4.1 in order to visualize coronal structures. Final processing was done using ACC 6.1 software. Image processing by Miloslav Druckmüller |
