Corona from Svalbard

This image is the composition of 29 eclipse images acquired by means of 800 mm lens and Nikon D810 camera. Even though the Sun was only about 11° above the horizon it was possible to visualize not only the solar corona in good contrast and high resolution but even the lunar surface surprisingly well. The position of the Moon represents the situation 8 seconds after the second contact. The full resolution image may be found here.

ProcessingComposition of 29 eclipse images. Eclipse images calibrated by means of dark frames and flat-fields, aligned by means of phase correlation, composed by means of LDIC 5.0 software, processed using Corona 4.1 in order to visualize coronal structures. Final processing was done using ACC 6.1 software.
