System requirements and installation

Computer:

• PC with more processor kernels (8 kernels recommended)*
• MS Windows XP or later (Linux with wine emulator)
• Display with minimum resolution 1024 × 768 pixels (the more the better)
• Several GB of free space on HD (1 image has approx. 32 MB)
• All input data must be stored on HD. Do not process images on read-only media (CD, DVD, Blue Ray)

* NAFE alogorithm is very time consuming. That is why the NAFE image analyzer uses parallel processing. The processing time on Intel Core i7-3820 working on 3.6 GHz (8 processor kernels) is about 5.5 min for the whole SDO AIA image and about 18 sec for 1024 × 768 crop. If you use computer with only one processor the processing will be 8 times slower.

• Make a new folder
• Unpack NAFE.zip file to this folder
• Run Nafe.exe
• You may create a launcher on the Windows desktop if you want.

This scientific software is a freeware. It can be copied and distributed under the condition that original copyright notice will stay intact. Cite NAFE paper if using this software.
