Far side flare, July 23, 2012, "Superstorm"
On July 23, 2012 a far side flare released extremely fast CME which fortunately missed the Earth.
Thanks to STEREO A spacecraft which observed the flare
and was hit by the CME we know all important parameters of this event. They are comparable with
so called Carrington event in 1859. The consequences of such event may have apocalyptic dimension
today. You may read the full story
