Corona up to 15 solar radii
This wide-angle image is a composition of two sets of images taken from two different places near
Longyearbyen. The first set was acquired by means of Nikon D800E camera equipped with Nikon 2/200 mm
lens. The second set was acquired by means of Nikon D810 camera and TS Apochromatic 7/800 mm lens.
It is possible to identify at least 190 stars in the image, the faintest one is of mag. 9.8.
The quality of the image is surprising if you take into consideration that the solar center was
only 11.3° above the horizon and the image bottom only about 8 deg. You may compare this eclipse image
with SOHO LASCO C2 and C3.

Eclipse images were calibrated by means of dark frames and flat-fields, aligned by means of phase correlation, composed by means of LDIC 5.0 software, processed using Corona 4.1 in order to visualize coronal structures. Final processing was done using ACC 6.1 software. Image processing by Miloslav Druckmüller |
