I observed the total solar eclipse of July 11, 2010 on Tatakoto Atoll in French Polynesia as a member of the international expedition perfectly organized by Shadia Habbal, Professor at the Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii. My participation, equipment and transport were enabled by support from an NSF grant to the University of Hawaii and support from Peter Aniol and Astelco Systems GmbH Munich, Zdeněk Andrýsek (Czech Republic), Achim Mende and Dany Cardoen (Germany).
 
The observing conditions were far from perfect. Thin clouds shortened the time suitable for acquiring good data to several dozens of seconds and changed image processing to a time-consuming puzzle. Fortunately the exposure sequence strategy enabled me to combine data from different cameras and finally the result was very near to what I had expected before the eclipse.
